Celso Pérez is an Assistant Federal Public Defender in the District of Puerto Rico. He primarily litigates appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and substantive motions and post-conviction proceedings before the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
Prior to joining the Defender’s office, Celso worked as a Staff Attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union’s Immigrants’ Rights Project. He also clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Celso received his bachelor’s degree from Boston College, and his Juris Doctor from Yale Law School.
