She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law in 1992. From there on, she has represented the indigent accused without interruption for 18 years: first as Defender for Legal Aid Society-Puerto Rico for 6 years, as Territorial Public Defender for the U.S. Virgin Islands St. Thomas/St. John Division for 2 years, as an Assistant Federal Public Defender since 2001, and as Supervisory Assistant Federal Public Defender since 2008. She is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and in the U.S. District Court for Puerto Rico, and has been admitted to practice in any court in the U.S. Virgin Islands and before the First Circuit Court of Appeals.
